HOMEWORK
Nightly Reading:
Read for 20 minutes every night. Parents should date and initial each night your child reads, on the reading log.
Weekly Writing:
Students need to answer one writing prompt per week. The same prompt will be used for several weeks in a row. The prompt will be glued into their journal. Students will be taught how to answer the question prior to it coming home for homework. They will choose ONE book that they read during the week and respond to the question using correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
The journals will come home on Monday and must be returned to school by that Friday.
Month of September prompt:
Read a fiction book. Did you like the book? Why or why not? Use details from the book to support your answer. Use correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.
Math:
Monday/Wednesday: a worksheet will be sent home to review standards taught in class.
Tuesday/Thursday: students will practice basic facts through the website Xtramath. If your child does not have access to a computer, I will send home basic facts flashcards for them to practice.
******Please make sure that all homework has the date completed and is signed by a parent. It's important that you review homework, each night, with your child.
